A seven days trip with a group of seven people that started in Taipei to Kenting, stopping at Nantou County, Tainan City and Kaohsiung City.
Getting There. We flew from Hokkaido to Taipei with my parent-in-law to meet my brother and Michelle's aunties.
Getting Around. Before the trip, Michelle had arranged a passenger van(enough to fit seven people) with a driver.
Schedule
Day 1 Sun Oct 23
From Sapporo, Hokkaido, we arrived in Taoyuan Internationl Airport where a private van picked us up to Ximen where we stayed for two nights.
That night, for dinner, we took a taxi and sampled all sorts of delicious Taiwanese comfort food at Shilin Night Market.
Day 2 Mon Oct 24
The nex day, a private van picked us up at Ximen Station and drove us along the coast and North of Taipei, visiting places such as Yehliu Geopark, Ruinfang District, Jiufen Old Street, PingXi Old Street and Tamsui District.
Stayed at Design Ximen Hotel, near Ximen Station. We originally booked a two night stay through Airbnb in Ximen but decided to switch to a different accommodation on the second night.
Day 3 Tues Oct 25
Left Taipei to Cingjing Farm and stayed at Star Villa for the night. That night, at the rooftop of Star Villa, we joined the stargazing session and thereafter strolled to the food stalls along the street and joined a Tea Tasting.
Day 4 Wed Oct 26
Checked out of Star Villa and toured Puli region before heading to Sun Moon Lake. Upon arrival at Sun Moon Lake, we joined a boat tour around the lake. Then we checked-in at Sun Moon Lake Hotel.
Day 5 Thur Oct 27
Started the day biking part of Sun Moon Lake before heading to Tainan City. On the way, we stopped by Checheng for wine and liquor tasting.
We then continued toward Tainan and stopped at a hot spring resort and shortly had lunch at Baihe district.
Retired at Shangri-la Far Eastern Plaza
Day 6 Fri Oct 28
In the morning, before check-out, we walked all around Tainan's West Central District, stopping by at food stalls.
Checked out of Shangri-la Far Eastern Plaza and drove south to Kenting on a private van. About two hours later, we arrived at Kenting and checked-in to our hotel, Howard Beach Resort.
That night, we joined thousands of people at the Night Market, sampling all sorts of Taiwanese comfort food, delicacies, drinks both alcoholic and non-alcoholic and exotic tropical fruits.
Day 7 Sat Oct 29
Hung out on the beach across the hotel. In the afternoon, we rented a scooter to the southernmost point of Taiwan.
Day 8 Sun Oct 30
A private van picked us up at the hotel and toured Kenting National Park before taking us to Kaoshing to catch a High Speed Rail (HSR) bound for Taipei.
By 9:00 PM, we arrived at the Airport to catch a flight bound for San Francisco.
